A Message from Nicole Cody
Fall is officially here! The school year is underway.
I want to first thank everyone who donated in honor of my birthday and for Fred. It truly was the best give we could have received.
With fall comes changes.
I have decided to leave my position as Executive Director of Every Child Valued. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. My mother has been struggling with her health for the last year which was a large factor in this decision. Everyone at ECV has been supportive during this difficult year. Yet I know if I continue the way I have been this past year, the organization will begin to suffer and ECV means too much for me to allow that to happen.
And change is good. Meet Kiya King Green, M.Ed., our new Executive Director.
I was connected to her by Allison Howe, the Executive Director of NonProfitConnect. NonProfitConnect offers a course called Leading from Within which basically teaches participants the ins and out of being an Executive Director. Allison highly recommended Kiya who had participated in this course.
Kiya is already a leader, serving as the Director of Resident & Community Services for Trenton Housing Authority.
She is also an award winning teacher, spending 12 years as a teacher in the Trenton School District, recognized twice by the Governor’s Teacher of the Year Recognition Program. Kiya is also the Founder of Ubuntu Consulting Group which provides educational mentorship and consultation for public educators and homeschooling parents.
I also want to congratulate Courtney Leonard on her promotion to Deputy Director.
Courtney started at ECV as a volunteer in high school over 20 years ago and, after she graduated, became a Program Assistant and was promoted to Program Director in 2018. She also was recognized earlier this year by the Governor's Recognition Program.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Executive Director of Every Child Valued. I do plan on staying on in a different role, writing grants and working on communications so expect more e-blasts in the near future.
