About the event
Before he was an icon, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a teenager: restless, uncertain, and still becoming. Young King: The Making of Martin Luther King, Jr. (HarperCollins, May 2026) tells that untold story, and its author is coming to Lawrence to tell it in person.
Dr. Lerone A. Martin, Stanford University's Martin Luther King, Jr. Centennial Professor and the nation's foremost King scholar, earned his Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and lived right here in Lawrence Township while doing so. This is his homecoming.
Join us for an evening of inspiration: a talk by Dr. Martin, a community Q&A, book signing, and reception. This free event is open to all students, families, and community members. Copies of Young King will be available for purchase and signing by the author
Free admission. Please RSVP to help us plan.
